Due to the detection of West Nile virus activity and elevated mosquito

abundance Northwest Mosquito and Vector Control District (NWMVCD)

will conduct an adult mosquito spray treatment on August 24th, 2022,

followed by a wide area larvicide application on August 25th, 2022.

West Nile virus is transmitted to humans through an infected

adult mosquito bite. The spray application will be conducted between the

hours of 3:00 am to 6:00 am at the following location: the residential

neighborhood located in the City of Riverside, South of Magnolia Blvd. and

North of the 91 Freeway, situated between Van Buren Blvd. and Harrison St.

The District will be treating this area with DeltaGard (EPA Reg.

432-1534) on August 24th, 2022 and Vectobac WDG (EPA Reg. 73049-56) on

August 25th, 2022. Both control products are approved for use in mosquito

control by the US EPA.  We have been working hard to use Integrated Vector

Management practices in these areas and the majority of our control efforts

focus on preventing mosquito breeding and killing mosquito larvae before

they become flying adults. However, due to West Nile virus activity and

elevated mosquito abundance detected, adult mosquito control followed by

wide area larval control treatments via truck mounted ground fogger will be

employed to control the current mosquito population in this area. Signs were

posted on August 22nd., 2022 in the spray area to inform the public of our
